this is a delicious dessert served in the nawabi cuisines.try it and you will enjoy the creaminess.adding a little more saffron will make it richer.

Ingredients vegetarian 1 servings

    • 6 slices of bread 
    • 1/2 liter milk
    • 2 tbsp condensed milk
    • 2 tbsp sugar
    • 2 tsp cardamom powder
    • 5-6 strands of saffron(soaked in 2-3 tsp of cold milk)
    • 1 tbsp of mixed nuts( sliced pieces of almond,pistachio,)
    • 1/2 cup of sugar syrup (with one string consistency)
    • varq (silver foil) for garnish


    1. cut each slice of braed into triangles or squares and deep fry them in ghee and keep aside.
    2. boil the milk till it is reduced to half ading sugar.
    3. add the condensed milk and the cardamom powder.
    4. now this mixture will be thick and creamy.alter the amount of condensed milk if you want it thicker.
    5. dip the fried bread slices in sugar syrup and place on a dish.
    6. pour the milk mixture over this along with saffron milk.
    7. garnish with nuts and the varq and serve chilled.

    I tried this with very little cream only but it turned out wonderful Sneha.



    more the malai, this tastes better
