China Grass (Agar agar) Payasam

China grass cooked in milk with sugar

This yummy payasam is made of kadal pasi called China grass(Agar agar in Hindi).Its good for health esp.good for women and children. You can do jelly, kheer or payasam.I preferred this recipe which needs 6 mins only. Enjoy!!!.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup china grass pieces
    • 500 ml full cream milk
    • 2 cup water
    • 3 crushed green cardamoms
    • 10 crushed cashews
    • 10 raisins
    • 1 1/2 tbsp sugar
    • 10 almonds (soaked and peeled and cut )
    • 2 tsp ghee - to roast cashews and raisins
    • saffron - little

    Directions

    1. Add 2 cups boiled water to the 1 cup china grass pieces and microwave for 90 secs.
    2. Keep it aside for 3 mins to settle like jelly.Then crush the china grass jelly into small pieces.
    3. Meanwhile heat ghee in a pan and roast crushed cashews,raisins and almond pieces.
    4. Boil full cream milk in that  pan and  add crushed green cardamoms.
    5. When milk boils, add the crushed china grass pieces,sugar and saffron little. mix well for 2 mins and turn off the flame.
    6. Refrigerate for 20 mins and serve it chilled.
