Sweet Potato Jamoon

Dumplings made of sweet potato dipped in sugar syrup

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 1 Sweet Potato
    • 2 tb sp - Milk Powder
    • 1 cup - Sugar
    • 1/2 cup water
    • Cashew Pieces
    • 1/4 tb sp - Elaichi powder
    • 1 cup - Oil for deep frying


    1. Boil the sweet potato, remove skin and mash well.
    2. Mix the milk powder along and make dough - press softly
    3. Make small balls pressing softly (do not press very hard) and placing a cut cashew piece in between.
    4. Prepare sugar syrup by mixing water and sugar. Let it boil until the water becomes in the consistent of a syrup.
    5. Heat oil - once its hot - deep fry the balls - once they are slight brown color - remove and put it in the sugar syrup.
    6. Serve it hot. Goes well with some ice-cream too.

    Tip: If Gulab Jamoon mix is available - 1-2 tb sp can be added to when making the dough.
