Poha Payasa

Sweet dish made from Poha & jaggery

This payasa can be made anytime. In our house this is specially made for Krishnashtami

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 1 Cup Thick Poha
    • 1 1/4 cup Milk
    • 1/2 cup Water
    • 3/4 cup Jaggery
    • 1/4 cup grated dry coconut
    • 2 tbsp Cashew nuts
    • 2 tbsp Dry Grapes (Raisins)
    • 3 tsp Ghee (clarified butter)
    • a pinch of Elachi powder

    Directions

    1. Wash Poha twice & keep aside.
    2. Add Ghee to a thick bottomed pan & fry Cashew nuts & Dry Grapes. Remove & keep aside.
    3. Add Milk & Water to the same pan & boil it.
    4. Add Poha to the boiling Milk & keep stirring constantly untill poha is cooked.
    5. Add Jaggery & Dry Coconut. mix well.
    6. Add Elachi powder, fried Cashew nuts & Dry Grapes. Mix well & serve.
