blend of many spices mixed in tamarind paste and rice

a good rice dish ideal to make during pooja days....as it doesnt contain onion or garlic.the highlight of this rice lies in the blend of sesame,methi and peanuts.

Ingredients vegetarian 1 servings


    • 1 cup Raw rice
    • 1 tsp dhaniya
    • 1 tsp methi seeds
    • 1 tsp jeera
    • 1 tsp channa dal
    • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
    • 2 tsp peanuts
    • 2-3 tsp garted coconut
    • 2 tbsp tamarind pulp
    • 6-7 white red chillies
    • few curry leaves
    • 1 tsp mustard sees
    • 3 tbsp gingely oil
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric
    • 2 pinches of hing

    Directions

    1. Dry roast jeera, dhaniya, methi,1 tsp of peanuts,sesame,3-4 red chillies and grated coconut one by one till u get the aroma of each ingredient.
    2. grind to powder and keep aside
    3. cook rice, drain and keep aside by spreading to cool.
    4. heat oil, splutter mustard seeds,remaining peanuts,channa dhal,curry leaves,remaining red chillies.
    5. add the tamarind pulp and allow to boil till oil floats adding the turmeric powder and hing.
    6. stir the cooked rice into it and add salt to taste.

    hing is always added at the end before turning off to retain it's smell and flavour

    add 1 tsp of black pepper to the whole spice ingredients while roasting and then grind
