my mum used to prepare this on diwali n holi.

Ingredients vegetarian 10 servings


    • 4 cups of rice
    • 3 1/2 cups sugar(powered)
    • 3 1/2 cups ghee
    • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
    • 1/3 cup milk

    Directions

    1. Wash n soak rice in a plenty of water.
    2. Change water everyday and repeat this processs for 5 days.
    3. Drain and spread rice on a  clean sheet for 3-4 hrs.
    4. Grind into a powder and sieve.
    5. Mix sugar, press and keep aside for 2 hrs.
    6. Sprinkle milk little by little, kneading mixture into a pliable dough.
    7. In a plastic sheet, sprinkle few poppy seeds.
    8. take a pingpong size ball of  the mixture and press over poppy seeds. rotate and thin the ball into 4"size round with hands. don't use a rolling pin.
    9. heat 3-4 tbsp of ghee in a pan.
    10. let in one round, seeds side up.
    11. shallow fry on low flame, till golden brown.
    12. drain and keep aside.
    13. repeat for whole mixture.
    14. cool down well before storing in a air tight jar.
