Sooji Upma

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    Sooji (semolina/rava) 1 cup Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp. Curry leaves 8 nos. Urad dal 1/2 tsp. Chana dal 1/2 tsp Onion (chopped) 1 cup carrots (chopped) 1/4 cup green peas 1/4 cups Green beans 1/4 Cups Green chilies 1 nos. Red chili 1 nos. Oil 1/4 cup Clarified Butter 1 tbsp. Salt to taste

    Directions

    1. In a dry pan (no oil) roast sooji in medium heat flame about 5 to 10 minutes and keep aside.
    2. In a pan heat oil, add mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal and red chili. After mustard seeds start spluttering, add curry leaves, green chili and onions. Fry till onions turn translucent.
    3. Then add carrots, peas, green beans and fry about 5 minutes. Add salt.
    4. Add the sooji and mix thoroughly, then pour hot water (2 cup) and cook on low heat about 2 to 5 minutes, mix in clarified butter.
    5. Remove from the heat and serve hot.

    add some chopped garlic to the tarkar, gives a good flavour.

    If you add Yougurt insteaad of hot water .take yougurt and dilute with water and add into soji.Take half cup yougurt(dahi) and one and half cup of water. I think this will add more taste in upma.ihave tried and it's really taste nice. if you don't have all veg ,you can make without veg even.
