There are so many ways this recipe gets cooked in various regions. This is a lip-smacking version

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

  • 4 pieces Chicken, thigh pieces
  • 3 cups Onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 nos. Bay leaves
  • 2 tbsps. Ginger
  • 1 tbsp Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp Cumin powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 1 tbsp All spice powder
  • ½ cup Vegetable Oil
  • 2 nos. Star Anise
  • 1 no. Red Chilies
  • ½ tbsp Tomato Sauce
  • 2 nos. Egg
  • 2 tbsps. Butter


  1. Heat oil in a fry pan and add cumin seeds and bay leaves, anisi seeds and whole red chilli. Let it splutter.
  2. Now add onion slices and cook 5 minutes , put garlic and ginger paste , fry about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Add chichen pieces and fry 5-6 minutes.
  4. Add turmeric, coriander, cumin and chilli powder,butter and fry again in medium heat untill oil is seperated from masala.
  5. Now add garam masala and continue cooking about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Add water and salt , cook 10 minuts in medium flame.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves and boiled eggs pieces.

Serve hot with Rice, Pulao, Roti, Naan.

Anisi seeds are not elaichi. it is different kind of seeds, comes in a star shape. for water you can put as your desire, depending on what you do like dry or little gravy.i would suggest don't put more then 2 cups.
