Besan in onion masala

Serve this dish with Roti or Parathas.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    For bessan tikki 2 cups Besan (gramflour) A pinch of Salt 1 tbsp. Cumin Seeds 1 tsp. khuskhus 1/2 spoon pomegrante seeds 1 tbsp. finely chooped onion 1/4 cup oil For Onion masala 2 Onions (finely chopped) 2 Tomatoes (diced) 2 Green chilli(to taste) 1/2 tsp. grated ginger Coriander leaves (garnishing) Salt as per taste A of pinch turmeric powder 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder 1 tsp Coriander powder

    Directions

    1. For tikkis
      Mix all the ingredients for Tikki together and rub untill soft with oil and than slowly add little water as needed to form a tight dough.
    2. Make small balls and flatten them slightly into tikki shape.
    3. Deep fry the tikkis in the oil on low flame intially for tikkis to fry well inside and out until nice brown.
      for Onion Masala
    4. Heat 2 tbsp oil and add Cumin seeds untill it pops.
    5. Add chopped onion, stir untill light brown.
    6. Add ginger paste again stir until little brown.
    7. add diced tomatoes and chopped chilli and then cover with lid and let the tomato get well cooked with the onion on slow flame for 5 to 6 minutes.
    8. After that open lid, add salt, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and mix well.
    9. Drop the deep fried tikkis into the mixture. Cover the lid and let it simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. Tikkis should be soft at this point.
    10. Garnish with coriander leaves and sprinkle some good home made garam masala over it.
