Shahi khichdi

rice dish

A wholesome food cooked very easily.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 150 gms Rice                                
    • Oil for cooking
    • 2 to 3 pieces of red whle chilly & cardamom
    • 1 cup coriander leaves
    • 50gms Tuvar daal
    • 50 gms. Chana daal
    • 50 gms. Whole moong daal
    • 50 gms. Whole masoor daal
    • 50 gms Carrot
    • 50 gms Potatoes
    • 50 gms. Peas
    • 50 gms. Cauliflower
    • 50 gms. French beans
    • 1/4 tsp. Cumin seeds
    • 1/4tsp. Turmeric powder
    • 1/4tsp. Chilli powder
    • 1/4 tsp. Coriander powder
    • salt as per taste
    • one onion
    • one tomato
    • 1tbs.mix. of raisins, cashews, almonds
    • 1tsp mix. of whole masala (black pepper, cinamom stick, clove)


    1. Cut and wash all the vegetables.
    2. Mix all the daals, rice  and wash it.
    3. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds, mix. of whole masalas, whole red chilli and cardomom.
    4. When they start crackling, add cut onions let them turn brown then add cut pieces of Tomatoes.
    5. Then pour in the mix. of daal, rice, vegetables, and all the masalas. Pour in two glasses of water and let it cook.
    6. It can be cooked in pressure pan also.
    7. Garnish with coriander leaves.




    I use deshi ghee instead of oil----it is more tasty
