Paalak Paneer

This common recipe is everybody's favorite.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    250 gms Spinach (Paalak) 2 Onion (chopped) 1 tsp garlic paste 1 tsp ginger paste 1/2 cup diced tomatoes 2 green chillies (grounded) 2 tbsp oil (or butter) 1/2 tsp garam masala 1/2 tsp tumeric powder (haldi) 250 gms fried paneer 3-4 tblsp cream.

    Directions

    1. Wash and clean spinach.
    2. Cut into big pieces.
    3. Add a pinch of salt steam till it is completely wilted.
    4. Remove from heat and cool.
    5. Make a soft paste of spinach in a blender.
    6. Heat oil and add ginger, garlic, green chili paste and chopped onions, saute till light brown.
    7. Add diced tomato and stir.
    8. Add salt, red chilli powder and haldi. Mix well.
    9. Add fried paneer cubes. Boil for 2-3 minutes.
    10. Garnish with cream.
    11. Sprinkle the finely chopped green coriander.

    You can soak fried paneer in warm water for 10 minutes before adding to the spinach. This yields softer cubes.

    Tried the recipie and came out really good. One suggestion - Amul butter does the charm...
