Peas Curry

This is a regional dish that goes very well with rice.

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings

    • 1 cup  green peas
    • 5, 6 uradi
    • 1 Potato (diced)
    • salt to taste
    • green chili,
    • ginger
    • a pinch of hing
    • a pinch of jeera
    • 2 tsp Ghee


    1. Grind peas coarsely (chopper setting).
    2. Heat 2 tsp Ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds (jeera).
    3. As the jeera browns, add peas and fry till it turns loses its green color and turns brownish.
    4. Add diced potatoes, uradi, green chilli,  ginger, and  hing.
    5. Mix it well. Add salt with 2 cup water.
    6. Cook till peas are soft. Add chopped coriander leaves.
    7. Serve with rice

    I have tasted this dish before. It had Urad dal baadi's which are available in the market. I think urad dal baadi's have to be fried a little before adding to the dish.
