tastes excellent with adai

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • mixed veggies like white pumpkin,potatoes,carrots,red pumpkin,drumstick, peas, yam or jimik
    • 1 cup curd
    • salt to taste

    Ingredients to grind:

    • 2 cups coconut
    • 10-15 chillis(green)

    For tempering:

    • 1 tbsp coconut oil
    • curry leaves
    • 1 tsp mustard seeds


    1. Clean and cut veggies lengthwise. Pressure cook them after adding salt.
    2. Grind together coconut and chillis
    3. Add this paste to cooked veggies and cook for a few minutes
    4. In a kadhai,heat coconut oil,add mustard seeds and curry leaves.add this to avial and mix well for even taste.
    5. When its little cool or just before serving add curd and mix.
    6. Don't mix the curd when avial is hot or else it will become sour
    7. Serve with rice or adai



    Why jeera is not added? It is must or not required?
