Traditional Tamil dish made with daal and rice. Served mostly for dinner. Taste best with Aviyal.
Ingredients
vegetarian 4 servings
2 cups Rice (parboiled)
1 tbsp Rice, regular
1 cup Red Gram (split)
2 tbsps. Black gram (split)
1 tsp Green Gram (split)
5 nos. Red Chilies
4 nos. Green Chilies
1 tsp Fennel Seeds
1 tsp Ginger, grated
3 tbsps. Coconut, grated
2 nos. Onion
10 leaves Curry Leaf
½ cup Vegetable Oil
Salt to taste
Directions
Soak daals and rices for 4 hours in water. Drain water.
Cut onions and green chillies into small pieces,Grind daals, rices, ginger, red chillies and sombu with 3 cups of water. Note: The batter should not be fine. It should have a very granulated texture.
Add cut onions, green chillies, grated coconut, curry leaves and salt to the flour.
Heat dosa tava and pour 4 tbsp of batter on tava.
Spread evenly to make into a adai dosa.
Add 1 tsp of oil on the adai.
Cook evenly on either side till it turns golden brown.
