rice flour chappatis

its easy to cook and very tasty

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 1 cup rice flour(fine variety)
    • 1 big onion
    • 2 to 3 green chillis (can vary according to taste)
    • 10-15 curry leaves
    • salt to taste
    • 1/4 cup coriander leaves
    • water to knead dough
    • oil to cook the rotis

    Directions

    1. Make a dough of rice flour, finely chopped onions, chillis, curry leaves, coriander leaves and salt .
    2. Use very little water as onions tend to leave water .
    3. Use little oil while kneading to prevent dough from sticking to your hands.
    4. In a deep bottomed kadhai, put one teaspoon of oil.
    5. spread the oil using palm of your hand .
    6. Take a cricket ball sized dough and spread it in the kadhai using fingers .
    7. Try to make the roti as thin as possible.
    8. Make two or three holes in the roti and put oil.
    9. Cover with a lid and cook on medium flame. Cook only on one side.
    10. Carefully remove from kadhai and serve with lemon pickle and curd.
    11. Wash the outer portion of the kadhai to cool it before making the second roti.
    12. It takes little longer to cook but is very filling.

    A very tasty and filling dish. As variation you can add grated beat root or soa leaves while kneading the the flour and serve it with home made butter and peanut chutney.

    One of my favourite dishes!! As a variation you can add cleaned and finely chopped fresh fenugreek leaves(do not use curry and coriander leave)but cumin , asafoetida(hing), finely chopped onion and fresh grated coconut enhances the taste. Second Variation: grate one carrot,finely chop one small capscium, one radish,coriander leaves,onion and proceed as above.

    This is my favourite dish which i always make. To enhance the taste add in a pinch of Hing(Asafoetida) & 2 tsp of Jeera(Cumin seeds).
