Soak chana overnight in water
Cut the peeled off pumpkin into small pieces and heat in microwave for 3-4 minutes, alternatively pressure cook the pieces till 3-4 whistles
In a pan heat 1 table spoon ghee and add jeera seeds, asafoetida powder, dried red chili, bay leaves in it.
Cook them for 1 minute
Now add chopped onions into it and fry till reddish brown colour
Add baked/boiled pumpkin pieces to it and pour 1.5 cups pf water
Add sugar, turmeric powder, green chili and salt to taste
Add soaked chana and stir all the ingrdients properly and cover with a lead
After 2-3 minutes open the lead and mash the pumpkin with back of a spoon (keep stirring)
Wait till water dries then add jeera powder and garam masala powder and stir properly for 1 minute
Take it off from the oven and add rest of the ghee to it and mix well
Add lemon juice before serving
Serve hot along with chapatti or rice as sukha sabji
