Coconut-Dal Chutney

Great as an accompaniment with dosa/idly/upma etc

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    1. 1 cup Coconut  - Freshly Grated
    2. ¼ cup Urad Dal
    3. ¼ cup Chana dal
    4. ½ cup Toor Dal
    5. Tamarind - A small ball or 1 tsp liquid extract
    6. 6 Dry Red Chillies
    7. ¼ tsp Asafoetida
    8. Coconut Oil 
    9. Salt to taste
    10. Water as required


    1. Fry all the 3 Dal's, red chilly, asafoetida in Oil until they are roasted.
    2. Add the contents into a mixer. Add water & grind into a fine thick paste.
    3. Now add the grated coconut & Tamarind and grind into a fine paste.
    4. Add salt to taste & serve as accompaniment with dosa/idly/upma etc...
