Quick Tomato Rasam

I can't claim the authencity of the dish, it just came out of experiment, and just turned out to be good for my liking.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 8 ripe tomatos
    • few curry leaves
    • 1/2 tsp jeera powder
    • 2 tsp imli paste
    • 1 tsp mustard seeds
    • 4 red chilly
    • 1 tbsp rasam powder
    • 1 jug of water
    • 1/2 tsp powder hing
    • 4 garlic chopped
    • 1 inch ginger chopped
    • 2 tsp oil
    • chopped coriander to garnish.

    Directions

    1. For rasam powder, dry roast 2 tbsp chana daal, 4 dried red chilly, 1 tsp jeera, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 1tbsp coriender seeds, 2 sticks of cinnamon, 1 tsp pepper corn with 1/2 tsp powdered hing. Grind them to make a fine powder. 
    2. Chop tomatos and mash them.
    3. In a pressure cooker, heet oil and put mustard seeds, garlic, ginger, curry leaves, hing and red chilly. Add mashed tomatos with rasam powder, salt, imli paste and jeera powder. Mix them well and add water.
    4. Pressure cook it till 4 whistle.
    5. Add chopped coriender to garnish.
    6. You can also give a tadka of curry leaves, little mustad seeds and hing to enhance the taste.(Optional)
    7. Believe me you will love it. Eat with south indian fried papadom and rice.
    8. Best eaten if you just keep it aside for few hours then reheat it and use.

    you can use tomato paste but taste will not be the same.

    iits very nice .i want to know can we add tomato paste instead of mashing tomatoes
