Malpua

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1/2 tin milkmaid
    • 100g sooji
    • 50g  maida 
    • 50 g paneer
    • 1 cup (150ml) water
    • a pinch baking powder
    • oil for frying
    • for sugar syrup
    • 1 1/2 cups sugar
    • 2 cups water

    Directions

    1. Put sugar and water in a pan bring to a boil. keep aside                                           
    2. Combine milkmaid, sooji, maida, water and baking powder, mix well and leave for 10 to 15mins.
    3. Crumble paneer very finely and add to the above mixture. beat well.
    4. Heat oil in a frying pan. pour 1 tbsp of batter to make a small, flat malpua about 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
    5. Fry till both sides get evenly browned and the edges crisp.
    6. Remove and soak in syrup for a minute.
    7. Remove from syrup and serve hot.

    Add 1/2 tsp. of sauf to the batter, gives a nice flavour to the malpuras.
