sometimes its nice to make a richer dish that we wouldn't make everyday, so for some special days why not try this one!

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 1 liter milk
    • 5 tsp sugar
    • 1 tsp chironji
    • 1 tsp flavorless custard powder(optional)
    • 1 tsp broken cashews
    • 1 tsp broken almonds
    • 1 tsp pista
    • 1/4 saffron
    • 1 tsp cardamom powder


    1. Heat a thick based pan, pour milk & boil it.
    2. Meanwhile soak saffron in milk.
    3. Once boil keep stirring it on medium heat until milk become thicker. (boil almost half of milk, it will turns to light yellow color)
    4. Meanwhile, in small bowl take 3 tsp milk, add custard powder,mix it & pour it in a milk. (custard powder helps making basundi smoother & thicker)
    5. Now add sugar, chironji,pista, saffron, cardamom,  cashews & almond in milk.
    6. Allow to boil milk again for 5-7 min & then remove from fire.
    7. Place it in a serving bowl & serve it.
    8. It proves great combination with puri, alternatively fridge chilled basundi gives good taste.

    chironji are sunflower seeds easily available in the market


    Chironji is dry melon seeds. Available in any grocery store.
