This is a famous african dish,,,and very common in indian houses also...most people eat this for breakfast almost everyday...those who have not tasted ...plz try and you will like it!

    • 3 pinches of cardamom powder.
    • 4 ½ cup very thick coconut milk.

    2. Take flour in a dish, add sugar, cardamom, margarine.yeast mix it .knead the flour with adding coconut milk gradually, till dough just soft and smooth(you can add more milk if dough hard, even light one will do).
    3. Cover the dough and keep in warm place to rise till double the size.
    4. Once dough risen take it and knead it little ,cut the dough in 2 parts.
    5. Roll one part(sprinkle flour while rolling) into 6mm thick roti.
    6. Cut it into 4 or 6 triangles, finish the other part same way.If you want round ones you can cut with biscuit cutter.

    8. Serve with tea.

Hi Fatma, was happy to see an excellent maandazi recipe. I am originally from Dar. Can you also post the recipe for Ugali, please? Thanks, Jayshree Shelat-Bhatt

Dear Viewers! There is slight mistake in MAANDAZI recipe ...instead of 41/2 cups of coconut milk take 1 1/2 cups of it .add gradually to the flour and knead till flour soft and smooth(IF THE DOUGH IS STIL HARD YOU CAN ADD EVEN THE LIGHT COCONUT MILK OR WATER)...SORRY FOR THE ERROR!

Hi Sandeep! Yes it is powdered yeast..but you can use any yeast. Regarding milk you can use fresh but you wont get the exact use coconut milk for better results..

hi,fatma ji.its good and sweet dish .please tell me its powdered yeast ? and can we use fresh milk? thanks.sandeep
