A tasty crispy bitter gourd without the bitter taste

Ingredients vegetarian 1 servings

    • 4 thin long karelas (bitter gourd)
    • 2 cups besan
    • Half cup chilli powder (or less according to taste)
    • 2 tbsp dhania-jeera powder (only jeera powder can also be taken)
    • 1 tsp amchur
    • oil
    • salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Wash karelas and slit longitudinally in the middle so as to make it into a boat shape and keep it aside.
    2. Take besan in a bowl and add chilli powder, dhania-jeera powder ( or only jeera powder), amchur and salt.
    3. Mix it well by adding 1 or 2 tbsp of oil. It will be a dry mixture.
    4. Stuff the boat-shaped karelas with the mixture.
    5. Take little oil in a kadai and keep the stove in medium flame.
    6. Place the stuffed karelas in the heated oil in such a way that the stuffed part should be upwards.
    7. After the bottom part gets fried, turn the karelas upside down and allow it to fry in simmer.
    8. Allow these to fry till the color changes and become crispy.
    9. Take these in a serving-plate and garnish with thin chips of carrot.
    10. Serve hot.
