Prawns with Rajma Curry

Quick Prawns with Moong

Mouth watering delicious Prawns curry for all occasions. You can do it with Rajma(kidney beans ) too.

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • Green Moong Dal (or )Rajma(kidney beans) - 1 cup ( cooked with salt)
    • Prawns - 1 cup (cleaned)
    • onion - 1 (chopped)#tomato puree - 1/2 cup
    • chilli powder - 1 tsp
    • garam masala - 1/2 tsp
    • turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
    • ginger - garlic paste 2 tsp (fresh)
    • salt - to taste
    • chopped coriander leaves - 1 tsp
    • sugar - 1 tsp(optional)
    • refined oil - 1 tbsp
    • water - 2 cups


    1. Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions,ginger - garlic paste. saute till onion is golden brown.
    2. Add tomato puree and fry for a while.
    3. Add cooked rajma or green moong dal(whole),cleaned prawns, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt and saute well.
    4. Add garam masala and water and bring it to boil till prawns is done or the gravy is thickened.
    5. Add the chopped coriander leaves and 1tsp sugar(optional).
    6. Serve hot with rice or chapathis.



    Christy, You mention 'Green Moong Dal', in the Ingredients and 'green moong dal(whole)', in the Directions. I think that you are confused. What you want to say is 'Whole Moong'. 'Dal', is, the whole Moong Dana split into two. Besides, Moong is always Green. Regards. Ramesh

    You can add 2tsp chilli powder instead of 1tsp chilli powder (optional).
