Rice dish with raw mango,coconut and mustard seeds

This is a special recipe for summer, as mangoes, coconut and sarso give a cooling effect.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

  • 2 cups Rice
  • 1 no. Mango
  • 1 no. Coconut, grated
  • 2 tbsps. Mustard seeds (black)
  • Curry Leaf to taste
  • 2 nos. Red Chilies
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • ¼ tbsp Cumin Seeds
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • bunch Vegetable Oil, for tempering
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Coriander leaves for garnishing

Directions

  1. cook rice and keep it aside.
  2. Grind mustard seeds to a paste. Mix the paste with mango,coconut, salt and sugar to the cooked rice.
  3. Heat oil and add the mustard seeds jeera, curry leaves, red chilli and asafoetida and let it splutter.
  4. Now add turmeric and mix this with the rice.
  5. Garnish it with coconut and green coriander.

Hi, Rashmi,,, I have a doubt , I just want to clarify it before I try this recipe,,, how to select the mango for this recipe,, is it a sour one or sweet ?? and u didn't mention how to cut this mango , grate or cut into pieces ?? pls answer.
