this is one of the variety rices which is popularly called thakkali saadam. good for packed lunches and can be eaten best with papads of your choice.
Ingredients
vegetarian 2 servings
200 gms cooked rice
a handfull of shallots
1tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp methi seds
1/2 tsp channadal
4-5 whole red chilli
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
a pinch of hing
salt to taste
puree of 3 ripe tomatoes
few curry leaves and coriander leaves
Directions
roughly chop the shallots.heat oil in a kadai,season with mustard seeds,methi, channa dal,whl red chilli,curry leaves and add the onions.fry well into oil.
add the tomato puree and the turmeric and cilli powder.cook well tll oil really shows up or seperates.add salt to taste and the hing.
now add the cooked rice and stir into the mixture well.
