Buns (Banana Poori)

Poori made from ripen Banana

These pooris are called as Buns. This is a famous Mangalore receipe made for breakfast. I learnt it from my friend who is a Mangalorean.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 2 cups Maida
    • 1/4 tsp Baking Soda
    • 1 cup mashed Over Ripen Banana
    • 2 tbsp Plain Yogurt (Curd)
    • 3-4 tbsp Sugar
    • 1 tsp Black Pepper powder
    • 1 tsp Cumin seeds (jeera)
    • Salt to taste
    • Vegetable Oil for frying

    Directions

    1. In a bowl, add mashed Banana, Sugar, Pepper powder, Baking Soda, Curd, Cumin seeds & Salt. Mix well.
    2. Add Maida to the Banana mixture & make a stiff dough. Cover with a damp cloth & keep aside for 3 hrs.
    3. Heat Oil in a kadai. Make small balls of the dough & roll out to the size of the poori. Deep fry till golden brown. Serve hot with Curd, Coconut chutney or Chutney powder.
