Oatmeal Payasa

Sweet dish made from Oats & Milk

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 1 cup Oatmeal (coarsely powdered)
    • 2 cups Milk              
    • 5-6 tbsp Jaggery (can add sugar instead of jaggery)
    • 2 tbsp Ghee            
    • 1/4 tsp Cardamon powder  
    • 5-6 fried Cashew nuts
    • 10 fried Raisins (dry grapes)

    Directions

    1. Take 1 tbsp of Ghee in a kadai & roast Oatmeal untill light brown colour on a Medium heat. Remove & keep aside.
    2. Add Milk to a heavy bottom pan. When it starts to boil, add Jaggery (or Sugar). Mix well.
    3. When Jaggery is completely dissolved, add Cardamom powder & roasted Oatmeal. Keep stirring constantly until it is little thick in consistency. Takes 4-5 mins. Turn off the heat.
    4. Add fried Cashew nuts, Raisins & remaining Ghee. Mix well. Serve warm.
    Note : Its thickens as it cools. Add extra warm Milk if required. Adjust sweetness accordingly.
