crispy rice flour snack

we make thatai on janmastami as prasad.putana flour is added for crispiness.its optional.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • 1 cup Rice flour
    • 1 tsp urad dal flour(roasted and grinded)
    • 1 tsp Putana(daliya) pottukadalai grinded into dry flour
    • 2 tsp fresh grated coconut
    • 1 tbsp chana dal(soaked for half an hour)
    • 1/2 tsp hing
    • 1 sprig curry leaves
    • 1 tsp red chilli powder
    • 2 tsp clarified butter
    • 3/4 tsp salt
    • Oil for deep frying

    Directions

    1. Soak chana dal for half an hour.
    2. Roast urad dal into golden brownish colour and after it cools down,grind into dry flour.u can't grind just 1 tsp.take 1/4 cup atleast and the remaining u can use for making danker  raita.
    3. Grind putana or daliya into dry flour.It is added as it gives more crispiness.Don't add more otherwise it will become brown.
    4. Soak hing and salt in little water.
    5. Drain the water of chana dal.Drained water can be used to mix the flour.
    6. Take a bowl,add rice flour, urad dal flour, daliya flour,grated coconut, chana dal, ghee, red chilli powder, curry leaves, hing and salt water and mix well by adding little water.
    7. Make a stiff dough.
    8. Make a small ball and spread it to the wet spinned cloth or the plastic sheet and flatten it thin & pat it with ur palm by greasing oil or ghee in your palm.should be even on all sides.
    9. pork it with fork.
    10. Heat oil and deep fry 4-5 thatai's at one round till golden brown on both sides.
    11. After the sound of oil settles down,it means its cooked and fried.take out the thatai's and keep in kitchen towel.
    12. Thatai is ready.After its cooled down,store it in air tight container.

    Note:u can use roti presser or just press it with any sharp lid
