White Chickpeas Kuzhambu

White Chickpeas cooked with spices

This White Chickpeas Kuzhambu can be done in 30 mins.U can do this kuzhambu as Curry by adding 2 cups water instead of 700 ml water and microwave-cooking time is 20 mins (in step 3)only.Try at home.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 2 cups dry White Chickpeas- cleaned and soaked overnight
    • 1 big onion-chopped fine
    • 1 big tomato- chopped fine
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds
    • 1 tsp mustard seeds
    • 2 tsp chilli powder
    • 2 tsp dhania powder
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1/2 tsp garam masala or any mutton masala
    • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • 3 tbsp coconut paste(ground with 1 tsp cumin seeds,1 small onion and 1 garlic pearl)
    • 2 tsp salt
    • few curry leaves
    • few coriander leaves
    • 3 cups water- 700ml
    • 1 tbsp refined oil

    Directions

    1. Take a microwave bowl and add refined oil,chopped onions,cumin seeds,mustard seeds and curry leaves.
    2. Microwave this on high for a min. Take the bowl out.
    3. Add all the other ingredients including 3 cups water.Mix all the ingredients well so that the masala gets evenly spread and Microwave(high) this for 30 mins,stirring every 10 mins.
    4. Serve this tasty Chickpeas Kuzhambu with rice or chapathi or Idli.

    Hi Jan!.Kuzhambu is an Indian Language word(Tamil Word) meaning Gravy or a specialised Gravy(like Brinjal Sambar)with one main-ingredient-like Chickpeas,Chicken,Fish,Mutton,Egg etc.It can be had with rice or indian breads(like Chapathi).Hope this helps. Bye!.
