Spicy and yumy

Recipe by Preethi Stephenson of Chennai, IN

Very tasty and can be served with rice, rotis and even toasted buttered bread. tastes awesome as a filling in sandwiches and katti rolls too!

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1 packet Button mushroom
    • 2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
    • 1 Onion, finely chopped
    • 1 Tomato, finely chopped
    • 1/2 tsp Jeera powder
    • 1 tsp Pepper powder
    • 1 sprig curry leaves
    • Coriander - finely chopped a little
    • 1 tsp Chili powder
    • 1tsp Coriander powder
    • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
    • 1/4 tsp Ajinomoto
    • Salt - to taste
    • Oil - as required

    Directions

    1. Clean and cut mushroom into moderate pieces and dry them on a towel for 15 minutes
    2. Heat oil and fry onions till dark brown and add mushrooms, dont add water as the mushroom shrinks and lets out water.
    3. now the mushrooms are dry, add ginger garlic and fry for 1 minute, then add all the powders except pepper and fry till the raw smell vanishes.
    4. Add the tomato now and fry till till dissolved and the masala gets fried well.
    5. Add curry leaves, salt and pepper powder and toss for 2minutes on high flame and finally garnish with chopped corriander and you can even stir in a few drops of lemon juice before serving.
    6. Tastes best when made nice and dry and you can add ajinomoto before garnishing.
    7. Serve with sambhar and rasam rice, dont add even a single drop of water while cooking as it alters the taste.
