Puffed Rice Upma

Variation to traditional upma. Let us know if you like it.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

  • 1 lb Puffed Rice
  • 1 lb Onion
  • 2 nos. Lemon, juice
  • 1 cup Red Gram (split)
  • 6 nos. Green Chilies
  • 10 leaves Curry Leaf
  • 6 tbsps. Vegetable Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds (black)
  • Salt to taste

Directions

Clean and soak the puffed rice in water for 3-4 minutes, strain. Grind Chana dal to a coarse powder. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, chillies and curry leaves. Chop onions and fry them till golden brown. Add the soaked puffed rice and powdered dal to the above. Mix well. Remove from heat and add lime juice. Serve hot.

thanks for posting this recipe.just for information its traditionally served as breakfast in our Rayalaseema region, AndraPradesh. we had add green chilli paste after u fry the onions.
