Arabian soup

A very healthy & refreshing soup can be eaten at any time but a speciality in Ramdaan


  • 1/4 c oil
  • 1/2 Onion chopped 
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper*
  • salt to your taste ( I usually put 2 tbsp)* 
  • 2-3 tbsp tomato paste*
  • 1 large tomato cut into cubes.*
  • 1/2 chicken cut into small pieces.
  • 7 c water
  • In a thin cloth tie ( 9 cardamom + 2 sticks cinnamon + 3 cloves + 15-20 whole black pepper+ 1 tsp zira seeds+ 1 piece of dy haldi + 1/4 tsp coriander seeds)
  • 1 c crushed wheat( soaked over night)
  • 1/4 c lemon juice.


  1. In a soup pot heat the oil, fry onions till golden but not too dark.
  2. add in the * ingredients & fry for 1 min then add the chicken & tied spices & fry for 2 min.
  3. Pour the water, bring to the boil then lower the heat.
  4. Cook for 1/2 hour.
  5. Add in the crushed wheat & cook for appox 1 hour until the soup in nice & thick.
  6. pour the lemon juice & stir. remove from heat & serve hot with Samosas.

Thanx Salma 4 ur appreciation. I do belong to Bangladesh but I was raised abroad so I have a very mixed taste when it comes to food as u can figure out 4m my recipes. We make many kinds of Macchi, I'm not quite sure which one your talking about. If u can give me some clue I will try my best to post it. U also keep on posting ur nice recipes to us. TC. Cheers.
