Fried Chicken

Fried Crispy chicken snacks

Recipe by Chitra Ahluwalia Pal of New York, US

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • Chicken pieces (thighs, leg pieces and breast pieces)
    • Salt, pepper and red chili powder to taste
    • 2 cups of wheat flour
    • 3 cups of bread crumbs
    • 2 egg whites
    • Hot sauce
    • ½ cup cold milk
    • Oil to fry

    Directions

    1. Take four bowls or deep trays.
    2. In first bowl put chicken pieces after washing and rub salt, pepper and red pepper along with hot sauce to taste. Keep it aside for ten minutes
    3. In second bowl, take 2 egg whites and put little hot sauce and 3 tsp. of cold milk and stir it
    4. In third tray, take 2 cups of wheat flour and add little salt and pepper to this also.
    5. In fourth spread bread crumbs.
    6. Till you are preparing the bowls ready, heat oil in deep dish pan / kadhai.
    7. Take chicken pieces one by one and dip it in flour so that it is rubbed over the chicken piece.
    8. Now dip them one by one in egg mix bowl.
    9. Now dip again in flour bowl and then back in egg bowl mix.
    10. Now dipping them in bread crumbs tray is last. Bread crumbs should be coated on chicken all over.
    11. Now start dropping in oil. Take care that oil should be really hot otherwise it will take time to fry it.
    12. Take them out one by one and keep on some kitchen towel to get rid of oil and garnish each with lemon juice if you want, it will be really tasty.

Very Good! I tried this recipe and it turned out good. It did not look anything like the picture. I would like to recommend few changes to this recipe. For 1/2 cut-up chicken, I used 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp. black pepper powder, 1/4 tsp. red chilli powder, 1/4 tsp. kashmiri red chilli powder and 1/2 tsp. hot sauce as marinade for the chicken. I did let the chicken marinade for half a day instead of just 10 minutes. 1 cup of wheat flour, 1 cup of bread crumbs and 3 egg whites work perfectly for half a chicken. I don't see why the ingredient list has 1/2 cup of milk, when you do not need that much anywhere in the recipe. You only need about 4 1/2 tsps. of milk for half a chicken. I will be making this dish again. Thank you!

Hot sauce is easily available in tomato sauce section. If you do not find then no worries, it is totally optional if you want to make it extra spicy. Chitra
