idli ke kheer

This is a very refreshing dish we serve after breakfast.

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings


    • 5-8 idli (look into mrs soujanya Hariprasad's recipe for Idli making)
    • 1 liter milk
    • 1 - 1 1/2 cup ghor + 3/4 cup water
    • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder + 4 tbsp powdered almond
    • 1/4 cup freshly grated coconut
    • 2 tbsp rose water.

    Directions

    1. In a pot combine ghor & water ,bring to the boil & make a thick syrup.
    2. In a pot bring the milk to boil. Lower heat & keep boiling until half way thick.
    3. Add cardamom/almond & coconut  powder & keep boiling for another 5 min.
    4. Add rose water & remove from heat
    5. When the milk becomes luke warm add Ghor syrup slowly & stir to make a creamy semi thick liquid .
    6. Drop in the Idlies and allow it to soak the milk (make sure it does not dry out completely. If it does just add a little gold milk, stir & then serve)
    7. Cool in refrigerator then serve.
    * the Ghor is not added at the beginning as some have high consistency of soda which might curdle your milk while boiling.

    Sorry Mr shah for my late reply ghor = jaggery or u can use dark brown sugar hope this helped.
