Soya chunks Pulao

Healthy vegetarian pulao with high protein content

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

  • 1 cup Soya nuggets
  • 2 nos. Potato
  • 2 nos. Onion
  • ½ cup Peas
  • 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
  • 2½ cups Rice (basmati)
  • ½ cup Vegetable Oil, or ghee
  • Salt to taste


  1. First of all soak soya chunks (nutrela) and peas in water seperately 15 mins before starting to prepare rice.
  2. Slice onions and potatoes.
  3. Heat ghee or oil in a Kadahi on medium flame.
  4. Fry sliced onions in it till it gets translucent
  5. Add potatoes and peas in it and stir.
  6. Strain soya chunks and add to Kadahi.
  7. Continue frying for 3-4 mins.
  8. Add washed and strained rice to Kadahi and mix well. If you don't mind a little more oil, you can lightly fry rice separately before adding.
  9. Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric powder and mix again.
  10. Pour about 5 cups of water. Stir a little
  11. cover the kadahi and increase the flame and cook for 8 mins and then lower the flame till water dries up.
  12. Serve hot with raita
