Fish Koftay

A very delicious koftay with gravy.

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1/2 kg fish fillet
    • 1 lemon
    • 1/2 bunch of mint leaves(chopped)
    • 1 chopped onion
    • 4 chopped green chillies
    • 1 egg white
    • 2 bread slices
    • 2 tbsp rice flour
    • 1/2 tsp whole black pepper
    • 1/2 tbsp crushed red chillies
    • 1 tsp garam masala powder
    • salt to taste
    • oil for frying
    • 3 onions
    • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
    • 1/2 cup yogurt
    • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
    • 1 tsp turmeric powder
    • 1 tbsp coriander powder
    • 1 tsp garam masala powder
    • salt to taste
    • 1 cup oil
    • green coriander for garnishing


    1. Coat fish pieces with a little white vinegar after 10 minutes wash them and coat them with lemon juice.
    2. Grease a tawwa with oil and grill the fish pieces on it.
    3. Take the pieces off when all the water dries up and mash them with the help of a fork.
    4. Add kofta ingredients to the mashed fish and mix with hands.Make small koftas and fry on low heat.
    5. To make gravy, heat oil in a pot and add finely sliced onions when it turns into light golden colour then add all the gravy ingredients.
    6. When oil appears on the surface,arrange koftas in it.
    7. Now add 1 1/2 cups water and without stirring cook on medium flame.
    8. Take it off flame after 10 minutes.
    9. Garnish with coriander leaves and green chillies before serving.
    10. Serve with boil rice or chapati.
