Pyaz ki roti

roti made of payaz or onion

Recipe by veenaramesh of Chennai, IN

Instead of regularly eating roti, subzi, dal etc., sometimes for a change we can have stuffed roti. This payaz or onion roti is one among that.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings

    • 2 cup wheat flour or atta
    • 2tsp of gram flour or besan
    • 2 to 3 onion finely chopped
    • 1 green chilly (optional)
    • 1 tsp of saunf (fennel seeds)
    • 1 tsp of red chilly powder
    • 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
    • 1/2 tsp of amchur power
    • salt to taste
    • 1 tsp of ghee or oil
    • water to knead

    Directions

    1. Take a parathan or wide mouth vessel.  Put all the ingredients into it and mix well and slowly pour water as per the requirement and knead.  It is advisable that the onion should be very finely chopped so that it can easily go along with atta while kneading and while making rotis.
    2. After kneading well with water just apply 1 tsp of ghee or oil in your hand and again knead the atta with oil hand.
    3. Now make rotis as usual and cook it on tava applying little oil on both the side.  Your onion roti is ready.
    4. You can serve it as usual with chutney or pickle or curd.  Try this and i am sure your family will like it.
    5. It is just like any other paratha like mooli, aloo, gobi or panneer.  Try and give your comments.
