Cabbage Pakoras

Tasty Paakoras made out of urad dal

Very tasty vada. You can serve it with Sambar.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1 cup white urad dal (soaked for 3 hours)
    • ½ cup finely chopped cabbage
    • ½ cup finely chopped onions
    • 2 teaspoon ginger & garlic paste
    • 1 teaspoon chopped green chilles
    • ¼ finely chopped fresh coriander leaves
    • Salt to taste


    1) Grind the soaked urad dal with salt and adding as little water as possible into a thick smooth paste.

    2) Add the chopped cabbage, onions, green chillies, ginger & garlic paste and coriander leaves and mix into the ground urad dal paste.

    3) Heat oil in a frying pan for deep frying the dal mixture.

    4) Once the oil is well heated add the dal mixture using a scoop spoon into hot oil.

    5) Fry the mixture until dark golden brown n medium high heat and drain on paper towels.

    6) Serve hot with tomato ketchup or with coconut chutney or with Sambar.

    Dear Areen in what way it was failure? I mean taste or anything else. My suggestion is you can also try a chana dal or just finely chopped cabbage. Hope this will work out. Thanks, Shruti


    The Pakora turned out a failure I don't know why it was coming apart? Any suggestions?
