Mangalore Athirasa.

very tasty and famous dish of mangalore.

Ingredients vegetarian 8 servings


    • 1 cup rice flour.
    • ½ cup fresh grated coconut.
    • 1 cup jaggery.
    • 1 tsp cardamom powder.
    • 4-6 tsp ghee/coconut oil.
    • oil for frying.

    Directions

    1. Take a pan add Jaggery and very little amount of water and mix them well.
    2. When Jaggery starts boiling.add coconut,cardamom pwd and rice flour and stir continuously till it becomes like a ball at the center of a pan.
    3. Switch off the flame and remove it in a blow,put 4-6 tsp of ghee on top of it and grease it and leave it to cool for 20 to 30 mins.
    4. Then take non-sticky plastic sheet and grease the sheet with oil and make small balls of the dough and flattened it with you hands on the sheet into circle shape.
    5. Then heat the oil in a pan and deep fry the athirasa to nice brown color.
    6. Then the athirasa is ready to sever.
