Palak (spinach) biriyani

palak with kaju.....a rare delight

easy to prepare,vegetarian, different and delicious

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 2 cups Basmati Rice
    • 1 bowl of Spinach (chopped)
    • ½ cup Cashew Nuts (Kaju)
    • ½ cup Cooking Oil
    • ½ tbsp. Ginger-Garlic paste
    • 8 Cloves
    • 4 Cardamoms
    • 2 Cinnamon sticks
    • 10 Peppercorns
    • 1 cup Coconut milk (optional),
    • salt for taste

    Directions

    1. Heat oil and fry all the spices, add kaju.
    2. Add previously soaked and drained rice. Continue stirring for 2-3 minute
    3. Add Ginger-garlic paste. Continue frying it till the raw flavor of ginger and garlic is gone.
    4. Add a cup of coconut milk and 2 cups of water
    5. Cover and simmer until the rice is cooked.
    6. Depending on the preference you could garnish with fried onions before serving.

    what to do with spinach????? palak biriyani without adding palak.

    I guess Palak is to be added with thr rice so tht it gets cooked with all its flavour mixing well in the dish, isn't it?

    i feel that the spinach biryani should have a touch of spinach in it..do add the spinach pls and rewrite the recipe!!

    If we have to keep 1cup of chopped spinach aside all the time while cooking rice, then why not just imagine instead, as it is not mentioned when to use spinach.
