This recipe is an integral part of a festival 'Gauri-Pujan',in maharashtra.

Ingredients vegetarian 6 servings

    • 4 cup Juwar flour 
    • 2 cup dahi (curd)
    • 2 tsp ghee
    • 1/4 cup raisins
    • 1/4 cup dried coconut
    • few broken black pepper
    • 1 tsp cardamom powder
    • pinch of salt


    1. Add 2 cup water, juwar flour in dahi, salt & make a thin dough.
    2. In one pan heat ghee, add raisins, coconut, black pepper, cardamom powder in it. Now add thin dough & let it cook for 5 min.
    3. While serving use little amount of ghee which gives a good taste to it & jaggery.

    hi sunita! thank you for enhancing my knowledge about the recipe which is also made in a different states of india, but it's a traditional & famous recipe in maharashtra which i learnt from my GrandMa!


    actually aambil is prepared from ragi atta,not from jawar flour,no ghee, no pepper, no coconut is added to it. it is famous in karnataka.


    the recipe was good but was rather bland..... actually i tried adding sugar instead of turned out to be gud that way. thank u fr the wonderful recipe!
