delicious, crispy chakali

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings

    • 1 cup chana daal
    • 1 cup rice
    • 1/2 cup moong daal
    • 1/4 cup wheat
    • 1/4 cup udat daal
    • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
    • oil to fry
    • salt to taste
    • 1 tsp turmeric powder
    • 2 tsp red chilly powder
    • 2 tsp carom seeds
    • 2 tsp cumin seeds
    • 2 tsp coriander seeds


    1. roast all pulses on medium heat , till become crispy & let them cool.
    2. Also roast cumin,carom & coriander seeds . grind them in a fine powder.
    3. grind pulses in a fine powder.
    4. Take the powdered mixture in a large bowl,add sesame & ground powder, mix well.
    5. Now add salt, turmeric & chilly powder.
    6. With warm water make a thick dough of it, knead it till soften.
    7. Now with the help of chakali maker make chakali.
    8. dip fry them till turns to brown.




    hi namita & foziakauser, here is another substitute for chakali maker. Take a piece of dough and roll it over the flat surface with your hands(use oil to grease your hand) so that it turns out to be in thin cylindrical shape. Now simply round it like chakali as shown in picture.



    yes its very easy to make chakli without chakli maker. use a cotton cloth or mash. make a hole in between and make a stich like button hole. then put the material on the cloth and tie them with thread. and press it. as same like we make jalebi.
