a south indian rice dish

a rice dish that is made in south of tamil nadu....when you are bored with the usual pulavs this is a good way to make your rice taste different.

Ingredients vegetarian 2 servings


    • methi leaves 1 bunch
    • 1 onion sliced lengthwise
    • 2 tsps gingergarlic paste
    • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
    • 1/2 tsp jeera
    • 1/2 tsp urud dhal
    • a pinch of hing
    • curry leaves
    • 5-6 whole red chillies
    • salt to taste
    • 1/2 tsp turmeric(optional)
    • 200 gms of cooked rice

    Directions

    1. chop the methi leaves finely.
    2. heat oil, season with mustard seeds, jeera,whole red chillies,urud dhal,ginger garlic paste.
    3. add the chopped leaves and saute till they are done.add salt to taste and the turmeric and hing.
    4.  to this add the cooked rice and toss well.
    5. serve hot with aloo fry or just plain.
