Palak Chicken Masala

A different veg/non-veg combination

This is a two-in-one preparation.You can have the palak if you want to, otherwise you can have the chicken.I learned this recipe from my co-sister in U.S.A ,who never does any difficult recipes and an expert cook, 10 years back. I dedicate this to her.

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings


    • 1 cup shredded and half-cooked chicken pieces
    • 2 cups finely chopped palak
    • 1 cup chopped onions and tomatoes
    • 1 tsp chilli powder
    • 1 cm ginger
    • 1 tsp fennel seeds
    • 3 green chillies
    • 4 cloves garlic
    • salt - to taste
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 tbsp refined oil

    Directions

    1. Grind ginger - 1cm piece,fennel seeds - 1 tsp,green chillies - 3 no.s and garlic - 4 cloves to a fine paste.
    2. heat oil in pan , add chopped onions,chopped tomatoes, ginger-green chilli paste and saute for few mins.
    3.  when oil begins to separate , add the finely chopped palak , chilli powder, half - cooked chicken pieces , water - 2 cups and the needed salt. cover the pan and cook for 5 -7 mins.
    4. you can serve this masala with rice or chapathis.

    Christy, It will be more tasty if you boil the palak leaves separately and then make a corse paste of it in a choper or grinder and then add the same to your half cooked chicken cubes and cook it for another 8 to 10 minutes. Try it this way and let me know the result of same. Kind regards. Anwar
