Nilgiri Mutton Korma

mutton pieces cooked delicately in spices and coconut paste

Ingredients non vegetarian 4 servings


    • 500gm mutton pieces 
    • 1 tsp mustard seeds
    • 1 tsp fennel seeds
    • 1 finely chopped onion
    • 7 green chillies(3 green chillies -slit lengthwise)
    • a sprig- curry leaves
    • 3 cups - water
    • 2 tsp refined oil
    • 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
    • 1 cup tomato pieces
    • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
    • 2 tsp coriander powder
    • 2 cups coriander leaves(chopped)
    • 2 cups mint leaves (chopped)
    • 1/2 cup coconut pasted with 2 tsp poppy seeds
    • 1/2 tsp garam masala
    • 2 tsp lemon juice
    • 2 tsp salt

    Directions

    1. Prepare a green paste of green chillies, coriander leaves - 1 cup and mint leaves - 1 cup.
    2. Prepare coconut paste of coconut grated - 1 cup and 2 tsp poppy seeds .
    3. Heat oil in a pressure pan,put mustard seeds,fennel seeds, green chillies (3 no.s), curry leaves and saute for a min.
    4. Add ginger garlic paste ,chopped tomato ,turmeric powder,dhania powder,mutton pieces one by one and saute for  mins.
    5. Then add salt , 1 cup of chopped coriander leaves ,1 cup of chopped mint leavesand 3 cups water and pressure cook upto 4 whistle.keep it aside.
    6. After 10 mins ,add green paste of green chillies, coriander -mint leaves.
    7. After 3 mins add coconut paste and cook for 2 more mins.
    8. Add  1/4 tsp garam masala powder and lemon juice 2 tsp.
    9. After a min turn off the flame.
    10. Serve this hot with rice ,idli,dosa,chappathi,and parata.
