black channa is made and served along with Puttu(steamed rice flour)in kerala.i have variated this by using vegetables which is a healthy and wholesome combination.
Ingredients
vegetarian 4 servings
1 cup boiled black channa(soak overnight and boil)
1 onion
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 1/2 tsp dhaniya
1/2 tsp methi seeds
1/2 tsp jeera
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric
2 drumsticks,1 carrot,1 potato(cut to desried shape)
1/2 tsp mustard
curry leaves
Directions
Heat oil, fry onion,methi, jeera and dhaniya till brown and make a paste
season the oil with mustard seeds and curry leaves and add the ginger garlic paste and tomatoes.
add chilli powder and turmeric and salt and the boiled channa and vegetables.
stir well and grind the coconut to paste and also add it to this along with the onion masala.
allow to boil well adding enough water to cook the vegetables and serve hot with rice or rotis.
