Turmeric(Yellow) Rice

Plain Rice cooked with turmeric powder and spices

This can be done in 7 mins with left-over rice.Tastier than you expect this to be.This is done with no vegetable but u can add 1/2 cup finely-chopped cucumber or grated carrots(optional).Donot add more than 1tsp lemon juice. Try and add ur comments.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 3 cups plain(cooked) rice or left over rice
    • 2 tsp turmeric powder
    • 2 tsp salt
    • ½ tsp mustard seeds
    • 1 tsp cumin seeds
    • 3 chopped green chillies
    • 1 sprig curry leaves
    • 1/4 cup chopped onions
    • 2 tsp chopped coriander leaves
    • 1 tsp lemon juice
    • 1 tbsp refined oil
    • 2 tsp ghee
    • ½ cup finely chopped cucumber and grated carrots(optional)

    Directions

    1. Heat oil and ghee in  a non-stick tawa add mustard seeds,cumin seeds,chopped onions, curry leaves
    2. and chopped chillies.
    3. Saute them for a min and add salt,turmeric powder,lemon juice and the cooked plain rice.(U can
    4. add cucumber and carrot now but its optional).
    5. Mix them well and saute them for 3-4 mins.
    6. Add chopped coriander leaves now and mix well.
    7. Serve this rice hot with cucumber-onion raita.
