Directions
- Add the vegetables to the idlly batter along with turmeric powder.
- Leave this mixture for 10 mins amd make idllies in the idlly plate.
- If you don't have a idlly plate then pour the batter in small tumblers.
- Take a khadai and place the tumblers in the khadai and add water to kahadai.
- See to that the tumblers are standing not tumbling. adjust the water level accordingly.
- Once the Idlly is made take it out and place it in a plate allow it to cool.
- Now chop the onions and tomato to small pieces.
- In a khadai add oil and mustard seeds.
- Once the mustard seeds splutters and onions and saute till they are well cooked.
- Saute in such a way that onions doesn't lose their original color.
- Now add ginger-garlc paste and saute raw smells goes.
- Add the chopped tomato and mix well till the oil separates.
- Now add chilly powder and garam masala powder along with salt and mix for 5 mins.
- By this time the idllis will have cooled.
- Take one Idlly and cut into 6 pieces. Repeat the same process to all idllies.
- Add this cut veggie idlli to the tomato-onion mixture.
- Mix the idllies with the mixture in such way that the cut pieces are not broken.
- Keep it in the fire for 5 mins in low heat.
- Garnish with chopped curry leaves and coriander leaves.
- Vegetable Kadavu is ready to serve.
- Serve hot.
Note: Skip garam masal and chilly powder if you are giving it to children. As well as while adding salt add a small quantity since already the iddly batter will have salt in it.
