Spicy Rice flour Snack

Very tasty and popular teatime snack of Tamil Nadu. Made with rice flour and very easy to do.Try at home and enjoy!.

Ingredients vegetarian 4 servings


    • 2 Cups rice flour- dry roasted little
    • 2 tsp gram dhal- soaked for 15 mins
    • 2 tsp red chilli powder
    • 2 tsp ghee
    • 1/2 tsp asafoetida
    • 2 tsp white sesame seeds
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 3/4 cup refined oil for deep-frying

    Directions

    1. Mix all the ingredients and knead this mixture for 10 mins into a fine dough.
    2. Shape this dough into lemon sized balls.
    3. Take a polythene paper ,put one ball and cover with another polythene paper and spread the dough to a small round shaped puri-like Thattais with hand.
    4. Deep fry these thattais in oil till golden brown and crisp on both sides.
    5. Serve this Thattai hot as a tea-time snack.(store these thattais for weeks in an airtight container).

    i tried the thattais, very easy and quick to make and they tasted really good.... instead of gram i added putane and they became extra crispy...! good recipe...

    No need to Memon Sir, just add the soaked gram dhal to the dough and knead it well .

    Christyjee, Dont we have to crush or grind gram dal before mixing it with other dough items ???
