Ingredients
vegetarian 4 servings
2 cups chana dal
2 tbsp coriander seeds
1 tsp jeera
half cup dry coconut
4-5 red chillies
7-8 curry leaves
half tsp khus- khus
1 bay leaf
half tsp fennel seeds
1 tsp turmeric pwd
1 big onion
7-8 black pepper
4-5 cloves
imli (optional),
fresh coriander leaves,
salt to taste.
Directions
Soak chana dal for 1-2 hrs. and pressure cook it.
Soak imli. keep it a side
Heat a pan add little oil to chopped onion make it golden brown. keep it a side in a plate, add little oil again and add coriander seeds roast till little brown, same for dry coconut , red chilies do same and then put curry leaves, pepper, cloves, fennel seeds, bay leaf, jeera together in pan fry for few secs and let them together in a grinder with turmeric pwd, salt and fresh coriander make a paste.
Heat a vessel add oil and add curry leaves after that and the ground paste to the hot oil stir fry the paste for a min.
Add cooked chana dal and imli water, simmer it for 4-5 mins.(we can also add fried or roasted dry coconut cuts from the top in the amti) to feel crisp just for fun.
